£100 reward for spotting dog dirt

Eagle-eyed residents in the Bridge of Don area of Aberdeen could find themselves £100 better off if they report information on dog fouling which leads to a conviction.

The local community council has promised the reward after the Aberdeen Evening Express launched its Ditch the Dirt campaign in an effort to make dog owners “bag it and bin it”.

The paper’s comment column said: “Folk in the Bridge of Don are sick seeing their parks and fields turned into a health hazard by dog owners who don’t clean up after their pets.

“We applaud their public spirited initiative, which may act as a deterrent if nothing else.”

Councillor for the area, Irene Cormack, said: “Dog fouling is a horrible problem and it has been ongoing in Aberdeen for years and years.

“It’s great to see something being done about it.”
