Calling ex-Lincs Echo staff

Did you work in the Lincolnshire Echo newsroom in the very early 90s?

Some of the old team are planning a Millennial get-together to remember the good old days – and keep a check on each other’s expanding waist-lines!

It will take place in Lincoln on the evening of Saturday October 28, at a venue, or venues, to be fixed.

So if you remember working for editor Cliff Smith, under news editors including Mike Robson, Mark Nicholls or even Nick Oldham, get in touch at the e-mail address below.

The event is open to the whole of the editorial department and many of the old names have already been mailed.

Organiser Patrick Astill is hoping for a turnout to match the old LEFFAWAS (Lincolnshire Echo Fine Food and Wine Appreciation Society) parties of the past.

He said: “I’ve been in touch with around 25 members of the team, some of whom are still vital cogs at the Echo 10 years on.

“I’m bound to have missed someone out though, as everyone is scattered far and wide now. So if you were there, or know someone who was, please get in touch and get on the guest list.

“Those I’ve spoken to so far are really looking forward to a great meal, a good laugh and lots of drink!”
