A plea for volunteers to raise cash for charity in a double reverse bungee jump got as far as the Scarborough Evening News office – and found two willing daredevils.

So intrepid reporter Jacob Good and his colleague, editorial assistant Sarah Normandale, found themselves being catapulted 170ft into their air to help out the Samaritans.

They raised £100 by being locked into a small cage together, being sent skywards and bouncing back down to earth again in the challenge from the organisers of Scarborough Fair.

Sarah said afterwards: “It is the wait that gets to you but the rush when you are airborne is amazing!”
