Bond is back… in Ipswich

Bond is back! But this time as the theme for the annual Evening Star Press Ball on June 28, which will aim to change the lives of 20 children.

Last year the Evening Star Press Ball proved to be a night that surpassed all expectations – by raising an amazing £33,000 for Suffolk charity Disability Care Enterprise smashing the appeal target by £13,000.

This year the team has gone for a James Bond theme coinciding with the 20th adventure, Die Another Day, and is hoping to raise £20,000 in just five hours to help 20 disabled children in the Ipswich area.

The paper has again linked up with Ipswich-based charity Disability Care Enterprise, to whom they’ve donated more than £100,000 over the years.

Star editor Nigel Pickover said: “Once again we have the thoughts of local children in mind with this year’s Evening Star Press Ball.”

“With our readers’ help we can exceed the £20,000 target, which will help bring hope and joy to some of the most needy children in our area.”

  • Walkers, including editor Nigel, took part in an 11-mile trek for the appeal, adding £1,000 to the total.
