Lichfield and Burntwood Chronicle reporter Stuart Pollitt has scooped a prestigious award after impressing judges with his journalistic talents.
Stuart, (23), was named the winner of the Malcolm Graham Award in recognition of his hard work and dedication during the Midland News Association’s in-house training scheme.
Six trainees were in the running for the award, but Stuart, and fellow trainee James Holt, made the biggest impression with their examination results, all-round commitment and stories uncovered by themselves.
The overall winner was chosen by Wolverhampton Express & Star editor Adrian Faber, and Shropshire Star editor Sarah-Jane Smith.
It is the first time the award has been given out, and was presented by Barbara Graham, who came up with the idea following the death of her husband, former MNA chairman Malcolm Graham.
Current MNA chairman, Douglas Graham, said: “This award recognises the hard work and achievements that our trainees put in.”
Stuart said: “It’s an honour to be the first recipient of this award. It was an excellent course which I would recommend to anyone.”
