Argus praised for its role in search for killer

Sussex Police have thanked The Argus in Brighton for its support in the hunt for the killer of Jane Longhurst.

Soon after the teacher was reported missing the newspaper stepped in to publish and distribute hundreds of “Missing” posters.

And when her burning body was found in woodland near Pulborough, West Sussex, almost a month later the paper switched its efforts to finding the killer, printing new posters and offering a £5,000 reward.

Now Sussex Police chief constable Ken Jones has thanked editor Simon Bradshaw for the paper’s support.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with Jane’s murder.
