A Yorkshire paper has written a stinging letter to the Government registering its disgust at changes to local postal addresses.
The Huddersfield Examiner is furious that town residents have been handed new addresses by postal chiefs which don’t include the name ‘Huddersfield’.
The paper has been inundated with angry calls from people of Meltham and Honley who now have to refer to their area as Holmfirth.
So now a letter has been sent to Trade and Industry secretary, Stephen Byers, urging him to take the complaints seriously.
And to force the point home, a similar letter is on its way to Dr Neville Bain, the Post Office chairman.
Examiner editor, John Williams, said: “The Post Office introduced the changes without proper consultation, causing confusion and upset for many.
“The Post Office response to the complaints has been unsatisfactory and it is important that the people at the top know what is going on.
“The simple answer is to allow people to use Huddersfield as their postal address, as they have done for years.”
