Alexis to be on screen full-time

Former Exeter Express and Echo reporter Alexis Bowater, will take over as full-time West Country Live newsreader, Carlton TV has announced.

Alexis, (33), said: “It is absolutely brilliant and I am thrilled to bits about filling the role.”

She had been filling in for Alison Johns, who left for maternity leave in September, and the former presenter has decided to step down to spend time with her family.

Phil Carrodus, ITV1 Westcountry controller of news, said: “Alexis has done a brilliant job filling in for Alison while she was on maternity leave. It was an easy decision to ask her to take over permanently.”
