A call by readers of the Port Talbot Courier for a clean-up to a subway in Neath has proved a success.
They contacted the paper earlier this month claiming the underpass had become an intimidating place. A petition of 230 names was collected calling for action.
After the local council’s community safety team learned about the complaints, a clean-up is about to get under way.
The authority’s spokeswoman, Sian Morris, told readers: “We read about the concerns in The Courier and decided we could do something about it.”
The paper wrote: “The ‘winning ways’ Courier is continuing to help the communities it serves by highlighting people’s concerns to the powers that be.”
