Lincolnshire Echo reporter Sam McKay was puzzled when she began to get calls from other media about one of her stories.

She had reported on a racist attack on two Greek brothers.

But it seemed strange that she was being telephoned by local radio stations Lincs FM and BBC Radio Lincs, as well as the local weekly paper the Lincoln Chronicle, asking her all sorts of details and questions.

The penny only dropped when she discovered that Lincolnshire Police press office had accidentally printed HER direct phone line as the contact at the bottom of their press release.
