Gazette Newspapers in Basingstoke has produced a 48-page souvenir supplement to celebrate The Gazette’s 125th anniversary.

And a sales drive by the advertising team resulted in nearly all of the adverts for the publication being sold in one day.

The editorial side included a history of The Gazette, stories from long-time Gazette readers, a focus on The Gazette’s links with the Basingstoke community and a look back at pages from Gazettes of the last 125 years.

The special supplement was printed at Newsquest’s Weymouth print centre and was inserted – with help from members of The Gazette’s newspaper sales team – into the July 4 edition of The Gazette at the print centre in Redbridge, Southampton where the Basingstoke paper comes off the press.

Editor Mark Jones said: “The Gazette has been proudly serving readers in the Basingstoke area for the last 125 years and this 48-page free anniversary supplement was an impressive and fitting way to celebrate this milestone. Its production was a great team effort.”
