£10 ad brings a job in journalism

A woman has landed her first job in journalism as a direct result of advertising on HoldTheFrontPage.

Rajeshree Sisodia paid £10 to advertise her CV on the site for three months. Now she has phoned us to say: “I’ve got a job thanks to you.”

Rajeshree will start as a trainee reporter with the Slough Observer on June 5.

She said the paper contacted her after staff saw her CV on the website. She was invited to go along for a chat and took with her a portfolio of her work. A week later, she was offered a job.

“I was hoping for something to happen but when you go througH so many interviews, you don’t get your hopes up too much. It’s great news,” she said.

Rajeshree, who lives in Hounslow, graduated from Nottingham University in 1997 with a BA (hons) degree in English Studies and went on to take an NVQ Foundation Skills Certificate in Journalism, Level IV, at the Journalism Training Centre. She gained work experience with the Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth Times and did research and travel writing for the Independent on Sunday Travel Section.
