An apology from the Congleton Chronicle.

The ‘Chronicle’ would like to apologise to PC Steve Meacock for mis-spelling his name in last week’s newspaper.

We understand that he has been subject to some ridicule from colleagues after we referred to him in a news report on the back page as Meatcock.

This unfortunate error came about when reporter James Trimble, who was standing in for the regular Biddulph reporter, mis-heard the name he was given as he noted details of a Biddulph burglary over the telephone.

We are sorry for any distress this might have caused PC Meacock.

Mr Trimble has been given a good… bawling out.
