It wasn't me – Jimmy Floyd

Not content with having his red card rescinded, Jimmy Floyd is to release a cover of Shaggy’s It Wasn’t Me – well we think he should anyway.

In the most vociferous call for video replays for referees yet, our man Floyd was carded after top Premiership referee Mark Halsey thought he saw Hasselbaink swing for Teddy Sheringham.

ITV cameras caught the action, and there was inconclusive proof that it was Melchiot. He knew it, Teddy knew it, every lounge-dwelling couch potato in Britain knew it.

But as far as Jimmy was concerned, it simply wasn’t him.

So here we have it, Chelsea FC’s alternative to a cup final record, and guaranteed to be better than anything Chaz and Dave release on the back of their beloved Spurs’ success.

While you’ll have to hum the tune while you read the lyrics (print may not be the best media for comedy songs) here it is, with cover courtesy of Telegraph image wizard Helen White. Enjoy.

Verse One

Halsey came in and he caught me red-handed
Arguing with Teddy and more
Picture this we were both real angry
Cos I’d left the keeper on the floor
How could he forget that I hadn’t raised a fist
Mario came in behind me wiv nothing but red mist

Chorus

Now I’ve got it on camera …it wasn’t me
They’re gonna get Melchiot …it wasn’t me
And I’m not gonna get suspended…it wasn’t me
But Tottenham are off to Cardiff …not me
And they’ll get the trophy …not Chelsea
