The winners of the prestigious Scottish Press Awards have been announced.

The winners of 18 categories were revealed at a ceremony held by the Scottish Daily Newspaper Society in Glasgow.

Among those who scooped awards were staff from The Herald, the Sunday Herald, Daily Record, Scotsman and Falkirk Herald.

The Sunday Herald’s Jonathan Wilson, who died earlier this year after a long battle with cancer, was awarded the Columnist of the Year award.

In his column Dead Man Writing, Jonathan, who was 31, wrote an account of his fight with the illness. His award was accepted on his behalf by his mother, Susan Wilson.

The awards were presented by first minister Jack McConnell and former Times editor Charles Wilson, the chairman of the awards jury.
