Sales and marketing team success

The Lincolnshire Echo scooped four prestigious local newspaper promotion awards at the recent Northcliffe marketing and sales awards in Coventry.

The Echo collected two winners and two runners-up places for promotions involving the Red Arrows, the local festival of football, and a series of new teaser leaflets.

The Carmarthen Journal is also celebrating after winning two awards at the Northcliffe 2001 HomeRun Awards.

The Superstars competition – in which one reader won a trip to Tuscany – won the best in-paper promotion for the weekly newspapers category while the Thomas the Tank Festival at the Gwili Railway was runner-up in the best external promotion for weekly newspapers category.

Carmarthen Journal sales manager Mike Baglow said: “I think we’ve done exceptionally well to put the Journal on the map against an array of newspapers across the country.”

The Llanelli Star and South Wales Evening Post also won awards in the ceremony.

The Star won best retail initiative for all weekly newspapers and the Post was the runner-up in retail initiatives and external promotions for daily newspapers.
