Regionals bid for glory in online publishing awards

Teesside’s Evening Gazette and the Manchester Evening News are among those shortlisted for this year’s AOP Online Publishing Awards, for their respective websites www.gazettelive.co.uk and www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk.

Gazettelive.co.uk has been nominated in three categories: Editorial Team – Consumer, Website – Consumer, and Online publisher – Consumer, while its Gazette Communities project, www.gazettelive.co.uk/yourgazette, has scooped a further nomination in the Online Community category.

In the Editorial Team – Consumer category the Evening Gazette will face the Manchester Evening News, as well as competition from Telegraph.co.uk, FT.com and Thefirstpost.co.uk.

And in the Online Community category fellow Trinity Mirror title the Southport Visiter is also nominated for www.southportcommunities.co.uk.

Associated Northcliffe Digital also has a number of nominations, including Motors.co.uk which is shortlisted in the Launch category, and www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/nigelgreen which is listed in the Innovation category.

Winners will be announced during a celebratory dinner on October 3 at the London Hilton on Park Lane, following the annual AOP online publishing conference.

Now in their sixth year, the awards celebrate and reward excellence in all aspects of digital publishing.
