Top photographers from around the regional press are to battle it out with agency snappers and staffers from the nationals for the Picture Editors’ Awards 2002.
The winners will be decided by picture editors’ votes through the awards website.
The nominations have just been announced and include photographers from the Express & Echo, Birmingham Post, Liverpool Daily Post, Yorkshire Post, Glasgow Herald and the Birmingham Evening Mail.
Nominees, together with a guest, will be invited to join the audience at the awards ceremony at Guildhall in London on Monday, May 27.
The nominated pictures will be posted to www.pictureawards.net soon.
The awards recognise and reward the very best of photographic journalism in the UK and Ireland and are sponsored by Fujifilm and Getty Images, with further support from Diageo, the Corporation of London, and Guinness.
Picture editors from daily, Sunday, and evening newspapers throughout the UK and Ireland, together with those at news agency members of the Wirephoto Association, will vote on the ultimate winners through the web site.
