MBE for Jersey writer

Jersey Evening Post political correspondent Philip Falle has been awarded an MBE.

Mr Falle, who has been with the paper for 28 years, was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to journalism.

Mr Falle said that he believed it was the first time that journalism, as a profession, had been honoured in Jersey and for that reason he was very pleased.

He said: “It demonstrates that there is a place for the profession. This perhaps recognises that it is a profession and not simply a job, I have always tried to approach my work with that in mind.”

At the end of the year Mr Falle will be retiring to Sark, where he and his wife, Marion, herself a former journalist, now have their home.
