Lancashire Telegraph named Daily Newspaper of the Year

The Lancashire Telegraph has been named Daily Newspaper of the Year at the annual Newsquest awards.

The newspaper beat runners-up the South Wales Argus and the Evening Times and The Herald in Glasgow to the top spot, in the competition open to all titles in the group.

More than 30 awards were handed out at the event this year, recognising editorial, sales and promotions staff.

Among the other winners was the Oxford Times, which was named Weekly Paid-for Newspaper of the Year and the Sussex Leader which won the Free Weekly Newspaper of the Year title.

Daily Journalist of the Year was Oliver Evans from the Lancashire Telegraph and Weekly Journalist of the Year was Peter Doherty from the Bury Times.
