Hockey correspondent to lift prize

A sports writer at the Essex Chronicle has been recognised with a major award for his work.

David Kitchener has been voted Best Local Hockey Writer and will be presented with the prize at the Hockey Writer’s annual luncheon on Monday February 5.

He combines the part-time reporting work with managing Chelmsford Men’s Hockey Club, where he is now in his sixth season.

The judges in the Daily Telegraph-sponsored contest said David provided a “prompt and comprehensive service” on how Chelmsford play each week.

The award itself comes with a cheque for £250.
