Former MP Mellor to be awards' guest speaker

David Mellor is to be the guest speaker at next year’s West Midlands Media Awards.

The outspoken former Tory MP (pictured), who now runs his own international business consultancy as well as writing columns for several newspapers, will be the guest of honour at the event organised by the Birmingham Press Club.

He will join Carlton TV presenter Bob Warman who will be the compere for the awards ceremony at The ICC on April 22.

Press Club chairman Andrew Sparrow said David would be the perfect addition to the evening’s proceedings.

He said: “When deciding who would be guest speaker at next year’s event we came up with a number of possibilities, but David Mellor seemed like the obvious choice and was right up there on the top of our list.

“It’s a fantastic compliment to the awards themselves that we have been able to secure such a high-profile figure to join us in celebrating, what I consider to be, the most important media industry awards in the Midlands.”

Entries for the competition, which is open to all forms of media, are now being accepted. To obtain an entry form, call 0121 212 0559.

The deadline for entries is January 16.
