Entries are being invited for this year’s Mind Journalist of the Year award.

The mental health charity is looking for news and feature articles which responsibly report mental health issues in a non-stereotyping way, which have been published in the local, national or consumer press.

The competition promotes and rewards excellence in reporting on mental health, challenging discrimination, and helping public understanding of mental distress.

Previous winners have included Nottingham Evening Post reporter Joanna Kowalski, who won the award in 2005 for her series “A Lifetime of Mental Health” which studied mental health at all ages, addressing issues such as children’s mental wellbeing, work-induced stress and dementia.

All shortlisted entrants will be invited to the Mind Awards lunch in London on May 16.

Submitted articles must have been published in England or Wales between January 1, 2006 and April 13, 2007.

The deadline for entries is Friday, April 13.
