The Centre for Journalism at Leeds Trinity & All Saints, Leeds, enjoys a well-deserved reputation, both among news organisations and in academic circles.
The Centre harnesses the skills and knowledge of media professionals and academics to support a full range of journalism courses - from undergraduate schemes through vocational postgraduate programmes to masters and doctoral research.
The "jewel in the crown" of the Centre is undoubtedly the Masters/Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism, specialising in Print (the postgraduate diploma accredited by the NCTJ), Radio or Bimedia (television and radio equally), both postgraduate diplomas accredited by the BJTC.
In January 2009 the Centre is launching a Masters/Postgraduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism.
These Postgraduate Diplomas in Journalism are specifically designed to equip people to find work in the industry.
They are highly vocational, involving circa 42 weeks - from the end of January to the end of November each year - of intensive education and training in the knowledge and skills essential to professional journalism practice.
Much of the tuition is workshop-based in our professionally equipped print, TV and radio newsrooms.
Diploma trainees work at all times with professional journalists.
Those on the Print course produce their own weekly newspaper, the West Riding Post, while Radio and Bimedia trainees produce radio news bulletins and a TV news magazine.
