A journalism student at noSWeat college in London is celebrating passing his 120wpm shorthand exam, taken the same day he turned 24.
Rich Harris was one of around 30 students from the college to pass at speeds from 80wpm upwards, with 14 meeting the benchmark 100wpm standard.
Rich said: "The pain was worth it. I realised when I was on a placement with the Bucks Free Press just how vital shorthand is and that motivated me to put the hours in."
Kenn Toft, shorthand teacher at noSWeat, said: "It's a good effort, to go from 0 to 120 in six months.
"But it was a good set of results across the board."
