First trainees sit exam to test skills on reporting 'as it happens'

Trainee journalists who sat their National Certificate Examination on Friday were the first to tackle a new style news interview section, writing a breaking story for publication online.

A total of 161 trainee reporters across the country were asked to write for the website of the fictional Houghley Mercury newspaper, reporting on the abduction of a small boy.
