Trainee journalists are invited to take part in a competition to write an article on the work of the European Parliament and/or United Kingdom MEPs.
The overall winner will win a cash prize of £200 and a trip to visit a session of the European Parliament in Brussels.
The judging panel will be looking for:
Stories that make a link between the everyday concerns of people in the UK (in a region or the UK as a whole) and the work of the European Parliament and/or its MEPs;
Stories that deal with single issues or personalities or assess the overall role
of the European Parliament and MEPs;
Stories that engage the reader and stimulate debate;
Stories that are well-researched, accurate and original.
Articles should be between 500 and 1,000 words in length. Entrants must be studying (or have studied) on an NCTJ accredited course, entries must be original work and entrants must have due regard for copyright law.
