Journalism students' crime reporting praised by police staff

Journalism students at the University of Central Lancashire have been praised for their reporting of crime by the Lancashire police press team.

Pluto editor Ed Walker, and the rest of the editorial team at the university's student newspaper, were praised for their professionalism in covering the recent murder of a 51-year-old father of six on UCLan's Preston campus.

The feedback came from Jane Astle, head of corporate communications, and Liz Riding, press and public relations manager for the force, during a talk to third year print students about their job and relations with journalists.

Liz, a former UCLan student, said: "We thought the coverage in Pluto was very good.

"It was very useful and will provide further lines for our inquiries."
