A London-based journalism school has put its outlines where its mouth is with a set of pay-as-you go one-off shorthand classes for £10 a class.

noSWeat journalism training in Clerkenwell consistently scores good results on its NCTJ preliminary certificate courses.

Now it is looking to open up its shorthand training programme to everyone.

Course director Stephen Ward, said: "We get good results in all NCTJ preliminary subjects including shorthand.

"Now we want to bring this to those who are not necessarily on one of our courses."

The new courses, which start immediately, will be run by Kenn Toft who recently joined noSWeat as a full-time shorthand tutor and course organiser from Pitman Training.

Stephen said: "Kenn is a dedicated, highly trained and committed teacher who we feel sure will help us achieve excellent results."

The hour-long classes will take place in the evenings and weekends. Journalists and others will be invited to simply walk in, pay £10 at the door and receive tuition for all stages of Teeline shorthand from basic theory to 120 words per minute.

Toft said: "Not only is this offer good value for money, but the programme will be varied so that there will be something for everyone irrespective of their skill level."
