Former Sunday Mirror editor joined by daughter for student lecture

Eve Pollard was joined by her daughter Claudia Winkleman for a guest speaking engagement at Bournemouth Media School.

The pair were there to address final year students on the BA (Hons) Multi-Media Journalism degree course.

Eve is a former editor of the Sunday Mirror, Sunday Express, several weekend supplements and Elle magazine in the USA. Claudia has presented The National Lottery, Liquid News and Strictly Come Dancing's sister show, It Takes Two.

The pair took the opportunity to pass on tips on topics as diverse as how to succeed on work experience and the best ways to draw original answers out of high profile interviewees.

They gave students advice on how to secure their first job in the industry and then go on to make a successful career in journalism.

Eve, a Visiting Fellow to Bournemouth Media School since 1995, said: “I like coming down to Bournemouth and passing on my experiences to a whole generation of young people hoping to go into the media.

“The School has a good reputation and is very highly respected within the media industry.

"I really am in favour of a course like this. It provides students with the opportunity to experience each type of media - magazines, newspapers, television and radio - and not just one or two.”
