Journalism lecturer to be remembered at benefit night

A benefit night to celebrate the life of former journalism lecturer Geoff Mungham is to be held in Cardiff tomorrow.

Geoff, who was a senior lecturer at Cardiff University's School of Journalism, Media & Cultural Studies, died in November, aged 60.

  • Geoff Mungham
  • He will be remembered by friends, colleagues and students during an evening of music and dancing at The Point, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff Bay, on Friday, June 4.

Among the acts performing will be The Hennessys, The Popeye Dolls, Samba GalĂȘz and the journalism school's very own Cowboy Comrades - Geoff's former colleagues Sharon Magill, Simon Williams and Tim Holmes.

All money raised from the event will go towards the Geoff Mungham Memorial Prize Fund, which has been set up by the university to benefit future students.

Geoff, a war reporting specialist, had been at the university since 1971. He also specialised in political communications and taught information gathering and analysis, as well as supervising PhD and Masters students.

  • Anyone wishing to contribute to the Geoff Mungham Memorial Prize Fund should contact Barbara Tomlin on 029 2087 6188.
