Journalism is becoming increasingly international at the University of Central Lancashire, with the development of two new courses.
The courses, at undergraduate and postgraduate level, will be for students to study and explore journalism internationally - and in different national settings.
MA International Journalism and BA (Hons) International Journalism are both due to start this September, subject to validation.
Journalism lecturer and international journalism co-ordinator Geoff Ward said: "These are exciting and challenging courses for students with an international outlook who want to learn practical journalism and study how journalism operates in the world.
"The new courses extend our present interests and activities in the international arena.
"And they have given us the chance to build flexible courses that are suitable for a range of students. For instance, the MA has options that make it suitable for those who have studied journalism - or worked as journalists - and for those studying journalism for the first time."
Part of Geoff's work is to forge links with overseas institutions. The department is expecting interest from overseas students and is building in English language support on the courses for those who need it.
The department is also working to extend partnerships links, co-operation and training with overseas universities and journalism industries.
