Special event gives industry insight

Journalism hopefuls are today being given the chance to get an insight into the industry at a special Media Careers Day in Northern Ireland.

Aimed at sixth-formers, university students and graduates, the event will be an opportunity to find out more about the variety of roles that exist in the industry through a series of workshops, exhibitions and activities.

Visitors will have the chance to put their questions to the professionals on topics such as working in newspapers, new media, TV and radio.

There will also be the opportunity for visitors to try their hand at reading from an autocue, sports commentary and radio packaging.

Entry to the event, at Queen's University, is by ticket only and costs £4 on the door.
