New Kent-based journalism course 'recruiting now'

Kent's first industry-recognised journalism course is to start at West Kent College, Tonbridge, in September.

The one year course will offer a thorough grounding in practical journalism skills, shorthand, media law and public administration - all taught by experienced journalists.

The course is undergoing accreditation by the National Council for the Training of Journalists, the industry's training body.

Would-be journalists from the Kent area currently have to travel to London or Essex to study but the new course will offer them tuition on their doorstep.

The course is expected to attract a wide range of talented students from throughout the South East and is intended for both post A-level and postgraduate students who are looking to enter journalism.

The course will also include work placements with local newspapers and magazines.

The College is currently recruiting for this course and places remain available. For further details contact course tutor Alison Moore or the admissions office at West Kent College on 01732 358101.
