Seven up as trainees make the grade

Seven junior reporters from Archant Norfolk and Suffolk have been awarded the NVQ (Higher Level) in Newspaper Journalism (Writing) by the National Awarding Body the NCFE.

The qualification marks their promotion from junior reporter to senior reporter in the newspaper industry.

They are: Laura Devlin, Eastern Daily Press, King's Lynn; James Goffin, EDP Yarmouth; Katy Thursby, EDP sport, King's Lynn; Amy Lyall, Great Yarmouth Mercury; Mike Sherburn, EDP Lowestoft; Adam Gretton, Great Yarmouth Mercury; and Mark Bulstrode, Evening Star, Ipswich.

The Norfolk reporters were presented with their award by Archant (Norfolk) managing director Barry Dennis , who praised the trainees for their dedication and said their training was excellent currency for whatever future lay ahead of them in the media.

The presentation was attended by EDP editor Peter Franzen and assistant editor Paul Durrant and Great Yarmouth Mercury editor Anne Edwards.
