Scots handbook a step nearer

Progress on a careers booklet for would-be journalists in Scotland will be revealed at a meeting of the Scottish Journalism Training Forum next month.

The meeting will be at Craighouse Campus of Napier University in Edinburgh on Thursday December 13.

The forum is aiming to produce a definitive journalism training manual for schools in Scotland to fill a knowledge gap about careers and training.

The project came about after members - who are all involved with newspapers or colleges - found that careers and course information in schools was either out of date or incorrect.

All copy is now in for the planned 24 page full colour careers booklet, which will become Scotland's definitive guide and is now in the course of preparation.

Latest news and an update on production will be given at the December meeting.
