NCE photography success

Fourteen press photographers have passed their National Certificate Examinations.

The latest candidates sat the exam on November 7, when there were 17 entrants.

Two distinctions were awarded to Ben Birchall, of the Lincolnshire Echo, and Skye Brackpool, of the Evening Argus, Brighton.

  • South Wales Argus Prize for the Best Picture Spread was awarded to Ben, from a brief to "find a fanatic", while Skye picked up two prizes - for Photographer of the Year and Best Portfolio.

  • Jennifer Burton: Isle of Wight County Times;

  • Christopher Etchells: Gainsborough Standard;
  • Emma Lee: Worcester Standard;
  • Craig Leng: Shields Gazette;
  • Luan Marshall: Evening Echo, Basildon;
  • Lucie Sear: Hereford Times;
  • Sarah Spencer: Wokingham Times;
  • Photo-journalist - Helen Gardner: Yorkshire Post.
