Courses for reporters are held at universities and colleges throughout the country, and applicants need at least five A-C GCSE passes, including English. Some colleges ask for two A-levels.
The course for photographers and photojournalists is held only at Sheffield, where applicants will need four GCSE passes and an A-level.
Places are subject to a written test and interview.
More information can be obtained by sending a large, stamped, addressed envelope to Marie Baker, Pre-entry administrator, NCTJ, Latton Bush Centre, Southern Way, Harlow, Essex, CM18 7BL.
The website is at www.nctj.com.
