Paying the rent with rent

The property market will always provide a good source of news and it would appear it's taken another twist.

Latest stats for May 2009 show the number of new properties available to let nearly halved: 34,088 in May compared with 62,765 in April 2009.

It's a sign that fewer people are having to put their homes up for rent as they cannot find a buyer.

Conversely, more people are looking for lodgers as a way of drumming up extra cash.

Speak to letting and estate agents where you work to see if your patch is mirroring or bucking this trend.
