Form a queue and mind your Ps and Qs

A school in Hampshire has seen a rise in attendances and grades after a headteacher introduced a new book of golden rules containing a code of behaviour for pupils.

The youngsters are expected to queue in an orderly fashion outside classrooms, hold doors open for others and stand behind their chairs at the start of classes until instructed to sit down.

The new discipline is the brainchild of Julie Taylor who took over at Neville Lovett Community School, in Fareham, in 2007.

Speak to headteachers on your patch to see what interesting initiatives they're running to better discipline in schools.

If they're stuck for ideas, why not suggest something similar to the code of behaviour in Fareham.
