Making the most of gifted children

There are thought to be around 700,000 gifted children around the UK.

They are not the chess grandmasters, maths geniuses or violin experts - but youngsters from ordinary families in ordinary schools, who need specialist help to achieve their full potential.

Gifted youngsters have a wide general knowledge and retentive memories, set high standards and have strong feelings, and are extremely curious, asking questions beyond their years.

To find out more contact the National Association for Gifted Children on 0845 450 0295.

Learn about how to spot a gifted child, what parents can do to encourage development and find learning opportunities to stretch their children.
