Press photographer uses skills behind the lens for charity calendar

Press photographer Paul Mogford is putting his skills behind the lens to good use, capturing local scenes for a charity calendar.

In an ongoing project Paul, from Apex news and picture agency in Exminster, volunteered to snap views for every month of the year, and proceeds from the 2008 calendar will go to the Exeter Leukaemia Fund.

The 41-year-old has spent much of his career on the road taking pictures, starting out with press agency Devon News, and joined Apex seven years ago.

But his current role as corporate photography manager leaves him more desk-bound, and so he relished the opportunity to get out and about once again.

He said: "Wherever I go I take my camera and see what I can find.

"Each picture has to fit in with the corresponding month so it's an ongoing project and I've already started taking pictures for next year.

"I try to stick to views within the catchment area of the ELF, but there is a bit of artistic licence if I see something particularly nice just outside."

He added: "It all started when I did a 35-mile charity walk for ELF a few years ago and made around £2,500.

"I thought I was getting a bit long in the tooth for walks so I thought doing a calendar would be slightly less painful."

The 2008 charity calendar is Paul's third, and is on sale for £3.99.
