New online photo contest offers £1,000 prize

Photographers are being offered the chance to win £1,000 in an online competition.

Run by Associated Northcliffe Digital, it is free to enter and each picture will be posted on the group's UKPlus website.

Amateur or professional photographers can submit up to 25 images on any subject as long as they have been taken somewhere in the UK.

Visitors to the website can then rate the photos they like.

A shortlist of ten photos will be derived from the most highly rated entries and the overall winner, who will be awarded a cheque for £1,000, will be chosen by a professional photographer based on the quality of the shot.

The deadline for entries is May 10.

AND project editor Julie Bayley said: "The competition is open to anyone, regardless of age or ability.

"We've already received dozens of really great images and the fact that you can rate the photos you like best adds a nice element of interactivity."

To find out more about the competition, go to http://ukplus.co.uk and click on the link in the top left-hand corner.

All submitted photographs must be original and previously unpublished. DMGT employees are not eligible to enter.
