Lincolnshire Echo photojournalist Peter Washbourn has hung up his notepad and retired after more than 50 years in the business.
Peter, (70), has become best known for his Lincolnshire In The News page in the Echo, having begun writing for the paper ten years ago when he retired from his role as a photographer.
With the help of wife Pat, he spent years compiling it by trawling through Echo archives finding quirky and interesting stories to appear every Tuesday in the Echo as part of the Way We Were feature, but has now filed his last column.
He plans to spend more time pursuing his other hobbies, which include local history and meteorology.
Peter got his first job in 1952 after leaving school, working for Record and General Photographs.
Four years later he moved to the Echo where he was a photographic printer and four years after that he became a press photographer - a position he held up until 1996.
Peter also produced several books for the Echo about the history of the county and the Royal Air Force.
In 2002 he was made an MBE by the Queen in the New Year Honours List, and later travelled to Buckingham Palace to pick up his award.
