Award-winning photographer Kieran Dodds, from The Herald and Evening Times in Glasgow, is among those to have his work displayed at this year's World Press Photo exhibition.
In Scotland for the first time, the exhibition contains more than 200 striking images from photographers around the world, who scooped prizes at this year's World Press Photo contest.
Kieran was awarded first prize in the nature section of the contest for his photo story on the estimated 8m straw-coloured fruit bats that arrive in the Kasanka National Park in Zambia each October.
He took the photographs during a trip he took after winning the Alan Harper Bursary at the 2005 Picture Editors' Awards.
Other images included in the exhibition are photographs taken in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, of families in Kashmir battling for survival following the earthquake last October, and images captured during conflict in the Middle East.
The exhibition is being held in the Scottish Parliament's public foyer until September 7.
Each year it is held at around 85 venues in 40 countries, and this is the first year this has included Scotland.
An independent international jury of 13 members chose the winners of this year's contest in ten categories.
It is the largest international contest for professional press photographers and this year attracte entries fromd 4,448 photographers from 122 countries.
