Farewell to popular Robin after 26 years

After 26 years at the Ayrshire Post, photographer Robin Christie was given a fond farewell by friends and colleagues.

Workmates and friends raised their glasses to wish the popular snapper, (64), all the best for the future at a dinner to mark his retirement. He was handed gifts which included a larger-than-life caricature.

Robin joined the Post from the Daily Express in 1980 and worked under past editors Matt Lynch, Tommy Workman, Jim Robb and the current editor Alan Woodison.

In the 26 years in his latest role, Robin has become a well-known figure whose work covered everything from royal and prime-ministerial visits to local school shows and galas.

Now his working days are behind him, Robin now plans to spend more time with his family, son Ryan and daughter in law Julie, daughter Julie, and baby granddaughter Iona as well as pursuing a number of hobbies.
