Former Westcountry photographer dies after suffering a brain tumour

Former Plymouth Evening Herald photographer Jack Collins, who took pictures of The Beatles, the royal family and Brazilian football legend Pele, has died after suffering a brain tumour.

He was 82 and died peacefully at the St Francis Care Home, Plympton, where he was looked after for the last three weeks of his life.

Jack worked for the Western Morning News Company for 31 years, moving to Plymouth from Exeter - where he had worked as a freelance - to join the Evening Herald and Western Morning News in 1957.
