Empics signs up to bring F1 to UK press

Midlands-based picture agency Empics has confirmed an exclusive deal with the world’s largest independent motorsport picture agency, Sutton Motorsport Images, to deliver Formula 1 coverage to picture buyers in the UK.

Sutton has appointed Empics as its exclusive agent for live sales to UK newspapers for the 2006 Grand Prix season.

The agreement links Sutton's sports coverage with Empics’ long-established relationship with UK newspapers, and their understanding on how to sell sport pictures effectively.

Sutton Motorsport Images chief executive Keith Sutton said: "We are delighted to be joining forces for the 2006 season and anticipate extending the relationship further in the future."

Sutton’s live F1 images are also available to the general editorial market - excluding specialist motoring press - through the Empics website.

In addition to the live F1 agreement, the deal means the Empics team can fulfil requests for archive pictures from the extensive Sutton Motorsport picture library, comprising over 3m images from major motoring championships since the 1950s.

Empics' Phil O'Brien said: "Sutton Motorsport Images are specialists we trust to get the best pictures for our customers, and we’re looking forward to working with them to extend our sports portfolio."
