Glasgow press photo exhibition pulls in the crowds

An exhibition of photographs from the archives of the Evening Times in Glasgow has proved a big hit with more than 5,000 visitors in less than three weeks.

The Picture This: 50 Years of Classic Glasgow Press Photography exhibition features some of the most iconic and memorable pictures from the Evening Times and its sister paper The Herald between 1930 and 1980.

Photographs of all aspects of Glaswegian and Scottish life are on display, including images of sport, showbusiness and the shipyards.

The photographs are taken from a collection of more than six million images which were collected by the Evening Times, The Herald and Sunday Herald during the 20th Century and are now preserved at the Mitchell Library.

Last year's Picture This exhibition attracted more than 32,000 visitors and organisers are hoping the new display will prove just as popular.

The exhibition runs until February 26 at the Mitchell Library.
