Bogus photographer claimed to be from Telegraph

A bogus photographer who claimed to work for the Scunthorpe Telegraph asked about taking pictures outside a school.

The individual approached a crossing patrol outside Crosby Primary School and asked when the crossing would be busy as he wanted to take some pictures.

Neither the Telegraph or North Lincolnshire Council had any knowledge of the request and the incident has been reported to Scunthorpe Police.

Editor Jon Grubb said anyone uncertain about the authenticity of anyone claiming to be from the newspaper should contact the Telegraph for verification.

He said: "We are shocked and concerned that anyone would use the identity of the Telegraph for bogus means and anything in relation to schools is particularly concerning.

"We have clear policies which we follow when taking photographs in school and with regard to identifying children.

"Our photographers do carry identification and if anyone is unsure they can always ring the newsdesk."
